PrecautionsEach 5mL of liquid contains approximately 30mg of sodium and each tablet contains approximately 22mg of sodium which should be noted for patients on severely restricted diets.
The cations of magnesium and aluminum interfere with the absorption of tetracycline, iron and phosphate. In addition, oral magnesium may accumulate in the plasma of patients with impaired renal function. Patients suffering from renal failure or those taking any form of tetracycline should not use Rafton.
OverdoseSymptoms and Treatment: Should overdose occur, gastric distention may result and it is best treated conservatively.
Recommended DosageAdults: 10to 20mL of liquid or 2to 4tablets 1to 4times daily chewed thoroughly, after meals and upon retiring. Administration may be followed by a half glass of water. Recommended dose, not more than 16tablets or 80mL/day. Do not swallow tablets whole.
Supplied / PackagingTablets: Each round, fruit-flavored tablet, imprinted with “Rafton” on both sides, contains: alginic acid 200mg and aluminum hydroxide 80mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: calcium stearate, magnesium trisilicate, guarana flavor, sodium (22mg), sodium bicarbonate, sucrose (1.2g), and sucrose pregranulated.
